ATLANTA – Thursday, April 20, 2006 – Tri-S Security Corp. (NASDAQ: TRIS), a provider of security services and equipment for federal government and private entities, today announced its subsidiary, Paragon Systems, Inc., has entered into a joint venture partnership that has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), a division of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), to provide protection for the Brandywine Air Force facility in Brandywine, MD. Created under the Small Business Administration’s Mentor Protégé Program, the joint venture is with Southeastern Protective Services Corp. in Rock Hill, SC, and is called Southeastern Paragon (SEP).
The contract requires SEP to provide security guard services to the Brandywine Air Force facility spanning more than 1,600 acres and is located outside Andrews Air Force Base. The site houses communications equipment and facilities that play an important role in various governmental and military communications programs.
“We are excited about our partnership with Paragon Systems and are honored to secure the Brandywine facility together,” said Marty Melton, president of Southeastern Protective Services Corp. and SEP. “Thanks to the Mentor Protégé Program from the Small Business Administration, we will have the opportunity to work with and learn from Paragon Systems in an intimate and challenging manner. With the complementary strengths of both teams, we will be able to effectively protect Brandywine’s facilities, assets and personnel with unmatched efficiency.”
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) was established on Oct. 1, 1997 at Redstone Arsenal, AL, by the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMCOM’s 8,000 civilian workers and 175 soldiers are dedicated to providing integrated engineering, logistics and contracting to more than 90 major military systems, about half the systems in the U.S. Army. The division’s mission is to support the U.S.’s Joint Warfighters and Allies by assuring aviation and missile readiness for combat operations, enabling the development and acquisition of superior aviation and missile systems and assuring the integration of aviation and missile technology.
“Southeastern Paragon has brought together two highly competent security forces that are committed to securing important facilities like the Brandywine Air Force operations,” said Leslie Kaciban, Jr., president of Paragon Systems. “Through the Small Business Administration’s Mentor Protégé Program, our joint venture will be able to provide a cohesive security program surrounding the Brandywine facility. We are grateful that AMCOM has entrusted us with this responsibility and we are dedicated to honoring our commitment to America’s safety.”
“Both this contract award and the development of Southeastern Paragon are great accomplishments in the overall growth strategy of both partners,” said Ronald Farrell, CEO, Tri-S Security Corp. “These two compatible companies now represent a significant, diversified security force and it is an honor that the federal government sees the value this newly formed partnership can provide. It is the expertise and flexibility of both management teams that led to this contract award; we are looking forward to continued success from this mentor/protégé relationship.”
